MS Excel Basic (Google Spreadsheets) Training 2015

This is your Introduction to MS Excel (Google Sheets).  Please pay close attention during the class presentation (Click Here to Download Presentation at Home) .  You will be creating a number of spreadsheets over the next few days.  It is important that you learn to navigate around the spreadsheet as easily as you do in MS Word (Google Documents).  You will find that most of the RIBBON items are similar and that you can find out how to do things without my help by using the HELP Button. We will be using MS Excel (Google Spreadsheets) to perform Basic Math, create Employee Timecards, Payroll Worksheets, a Family Monthly Budget, and much more! Microsoft Research TouchDevelop Application Builder

Today, in addition to completing your Yearbook Project, you will be required to sign up for an account (USE YOUR CAA GMAIL ADDRESS ONLY) on the Microsoft TouchDevelop Website. Use the link below to create your student account: TouchDevelop.Com (CS CLASS I Sign Up Link) Once you have created your account, please verify the account in your Gmail and proceed to the HUB!  This is where you will begin to learn how to read and write CODE!   Step 1 - Set Your Experience Level: Click on the box marked Experience Level (right side of HUB screen) and choose BEGINNER Step 2 - Begin Work: Click on the "First Steps With Turtle" tutorial and follow all instructions to get the turtle to draw a box.  You will need to add lines of code, making sure to read directions, and use a "button-style" interface to load your commands on each line.  You can use the + sign to add lines of code. Yearbook Creation Project 2015 (400 points)

ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE Students will use their ability to find, manipulate, edit, and post items to help create a school-wide yearbook.  Students will use creativity and other lessons from digital photography, editing and writing to construct a personal entry for the class yearbook.  Students will have work published both online and in print. STUDENTS MUST START BY READING ALL DIRECTIONS ON CLASS WEBSITE! Students will go online to access the TEMPLATE document from the class website.  Students must successfully download and open the Template in Mac Pages.  Students will identify computers in the room that do not have the software installed to create the project.  Students will then access and select photographs and other online content to include in their project.  Students will create a ⅓ page layout about themselves, for entry into the school yearbook project. Technology In The Workplace

ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE Students will learn to use Google Drive Documents to SHARE information and research about specific technologies that are being created for different jobs.  Students will use investigative and research tools to collaborate with a partner effectively.  Students will present work in class and complete follow-up assignments. Students will complete the TECHNOLOGY SURVEY online to begin class.  Students will then pair off and investigate specific technology that is used in different industries.  Students will present findings at the end of the class and then begin work on a Google Project to Document their findings.  The Google Document must be Named and Shared Correctly For Credit! Other worksheets and documents will be used to scaffold the assignments, and some basic research skills, and problem-solving skills will also be utilized. ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE Students will learn to use Google Drive Documents for Personal Business by creating Letters of Recommendation, Letters to the Editor, and a Cover Letter and Resume.  Other worksheets and documents will be used to scaffold the assignments, and some basic research skills, and problem-solving skills will also be utilized. STUDENTS MUST START BY READING ALL DIRECTIONS ON CLASS WEBSITE!
